Episode Overview:
Creating Quality Conversations, CEO Peer Spaces and Visibility with Enfys Maloney
In this week’s episode of Cultural Communication Confidence, I had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Enfys Maloney back to the show. Many of you will remember her from my recent book launch episode, where she stepped into the role of guest host and interviewed me about my book. This time I invited Enfys to return to share her business expertise, to talk about conversations, leadership growth at the top and visibility challenges.
Enfys is a sales expert, community builder and the creator of Vibrant Connections, a space designed to help people foster opportunity-rich conversations. She brings an energetic, human and deeply practical view on how we communicate and engage as leaders. Our conversation moved across three powerful themes: quality conversations, the need for genuine CEO peer spaces and the importance of purposeful visibility.
Why Quality Conversations Matter More Than Ever
So many people approach professional conversations with a sense of obligation rather than genuine interest and curiosity. You might walk into a room, feel slightly awkward, and find yourself stuck in small talk about the weather, travel or weekend plans. Enfys challenges this directly.
She believes quality conversations begin with better questions, the kind that invite people to share ideas, experiences and challenges, rather than simply providing polite updates. Curiosity plays a central role here, as does a bit of bravery. Asking something more thought-provoking requires confidence, but the rewards are immediate. Conversations become richer, more memorable and far more likely to lead to mutual opportunities.
Enfys also highlights the value of intention and preparation. You may assume that great conversation should be spontaneous, but in reality, thinking ahead about the questions you want to ask or the topics you want to explore makes spontaneous moments smoother, not stilted.
Whether in person or online, this shift from superficial to meaningful conversation is what strengthens professional relationships and opens doors.
Leadership is Lonely, So Peer Spaces are Needed
As our conversation deepened, we explored the reality that leadership, at any level, can feel lonely. Whether you are running your own business, leading a team or building influence globally in your organisation, the challenges you encounter and questions you are grappling with may feel too sensitive or complex to discuss openly.
This is why Enfys has created her CEO days- private and confidential peer spaces where experienced leaders come together to exchange expertise, share challenges and reflect to create action. She designed these because she needed them herself, and as she scaled her business, she realised this is what she needed- a confidential space to think.
These CEO days are rooms curated by Enfys with high-calibre individuals who understand the pressures of leadership. The conversations that take place are candid, grounded and solution-focused. Leaders support one another because each person brings a different experience, a different stage of growth and a different perspective.
This is a reminder that we should not be navigating leadership alone. Having a trusted environment where you can be honest about difficulties, seek advice or simply share what is weighing on your mind is essential to sustainable and resilient growth.
Visibility: Why It Matters and Why It Feels Terrifying
The final theme we explored is one that resonates across every sector: visibility. Enfys was refreshingly honest about how visibility used to terrify her in her early days. The fear of judgement, the fear of being seen by people close to home, the discomfort of showing up consistently, all of it can feel overwhelming. Yet visibility is often central if you have ambitious leadership goals.
Enfys reframes visibility not as self-promotion, but as a service. If people cannot find you, they cannot benefit from what you offer. And if you lead a team or organisation, people need to see you, hear you and recognise what you stand for.
She encourages leaders to begin by understanding their why. Once you know the real purpose behind your visibility, it becomes non-negotiable. You stop waiting to feel confident and simply begin. Small, consistent habits, whether a short video, a meeting contribution or a piece of thought leadership, build momentum. Over time, what once felt daunting becomes normal, even natural.
Visibility is an essential part of cultivating a personal brand, and as we discussed, everyone has a brand, whether they are aware of it or not. The question is whether you are shaping it intentionally.
Reflection Questions
As you consider the leadership themes Enfys shares in this episode, here are some questions to explore:
- What would a genuinely quality conversation look like for you and how intentionally do you create them?
- How could your leadership or career benefit from a confidential peer space?
- What small visibility action could you take this week that would move you forward?
Next Steps
Take this episode as an invitation to elevate your conversations and leadership in practical ways. Start by asking a better question in your next meeting. Identify where you need support rather than carrying everything alone. And choose one visibility habit that feels achievable, then commit to it consistently.
